A church mouse, Amos, befriends a man named Benjamin Franklin, but is subjected to one-too-many times of abuse. When Thomas Jefferson is trying to figure out how to begin the Declaration of Independence’s preamble, Amos is up to the task to give some encouragement.

Sterling Holloway voiced another mouse 15+ years later, Roquefort from The Aristocats.

Amos isn’t much different looking from Jaq when you look at his appearance. Disney had a bad habit of reusing character designs often.

I’ll easily stick with classic John Wayne movies (El Dorado and Rio Lobo come to mind but I have no idea when I’ll get to ’em) for the 4th of July but this could be good for a “in-between” movies short.

Been a little while since I saw this (maybe I should’ve put it back in the VCR before sharing my thoughts) but ironically there isn’t a lot of fife and drum music in this. As a beginner drummer (I was going to start out on orchestral drums as a stepping stone but was encouraged to stick with a drum set – even my parents aren’t surprised; seriously, why is a keyboard harder than a drum set?), I was a little surprised. But then again this needs another look.

I bet this is Stan Smith’s favorite animated short.
