Krusty gets Busted
And so begins the war between Sideshow Bob and Bart/Lisa.
Story
Krusty is arrested for robbing the Kwik-E-Mart. Determined that Krusty was innocent the whole time, Bart searches for clues that could clear Krusty’s name, leading to him accusing Sideshow Bob.
Random Facts
First appearance of Kent Brockman, later to inspire cartoon newscasters such as Chet Ubetcha from Fairly Odd Parents.
Though Krusty appears in the Telltale Head, this was his first prominent appearance.
Another early error shows that Krusty’s pale face is just makeup. Later a few years later it was revealed that it was due to his past triple bypass.
Framing someone for a crime is presumably more serious than even just doing the crime and could potentially add even more severity on a punishment. Just my thought.
Kelsey Grammer, known for voicing Stinky Pete the Prospector in Toy Story 2, voices Sideshow Bob. James Earl Jones from what I heard was considered, but didn’t make the cut.
Random Opinions
I gotta say that opener to the Springfield news looks extremely dated for 1989/1990. Looks like it’s from the late 60s or early 70s with how bland it appears – just having “action” blinking? This isn’t a nitpick, but just something that I’ve poking fun at.
Krusty’s heart attack is funny.
Sideshow Bob got pretty damn tough with trying to make Krusty’s robbery believable.
Sideshow Bob comes from a long line of great reoccurring villains, from the Joker in Batman TAS to Bluto from Popeye.
