Homer’s Triple Bypass
Homer pays for his negligence toward his health.
Story
Thanks to his diet of gorging on dozens of donuts every day, outdrinking himself on Duff every night, and anger issues, Homer has several heart attacks and needs to have a life-saving surgery to fix his arteries, but he can’t afford it.
Random Facts
Despite the seriousness of the subject matter, Homer’s Triple Bypass is sometimes considered one of the funniest episodes.
Homer’s been warned about his heart in the past in Lisa the Greek. Some people just don’t learn.
It’s a myth that eggs are bad for your heart. Eggs, like most poultry (long as you don’t deep fry it), are considered heart healthy (not just the egg whites). Many diet experts will recommend eggs over most other foods for breakfast, and I’ve gotten that recommendation by some doctors in the past. Now bacon on the other hand… watch out for sodium nitrate and don’t go overboard with it. The same can be said with ANY type of food.
Random Opinions
Wiggum’s mouth being stuck open seems even more horrifying than Homer’s health problems.
Please don’t attempt to eat like Homer – as funny as this episode is considered, take some of this seriously.

Visuals are great, but a point off for the scene with Chief Wiggum’s mouth. | Homer’s Triple Bypass is one of the better examples of how to write dark comedy. | Viewers might be turned off by the subject of heart attacks. | Like many Simpsons episodes, amazing voice work. No issues. | Dr. Nick’s best appearance. |
Rating: 48/50 – Perfect (10/10)
Another near perfect episode from season 4. Seasons 4-8 were truly the Simpsons at their finest.
